Toxoplasmosis is an important zoonotic disease, which is distributed worldwide and can infect all mammals and birds. Cats are the terminal hosts, whose egg sac of toxoplasma excreted by feces is the important infective source. With the increasing number of pet dogs and cats, toxoplasmosis has attracted more and more attention. In this investigation, dogs and cats in Fangshan District in Beijing were selected for detection of serum toxoplasma antibody IgG. The infection rate of domestic dogs with different age groups was 10.3% to 18.5%, that of domestic cats was 6.7% to 25%, that of stray dogs was 23.3%, that of stray cats was 40%. The results show that the infection rates of stray dogs and cats are significantly higher than that of domestic dogs and cats, with age increasing, the infection rates of stray dogs and cats increase to a certain extent, which are not related to their gender directly. |
